It's almost here!  The Annual Winter Showcase!  All students perform their self choreographed dance routines.  Parents, friends, family and interested 5th grade students are encouraged to attend the performance on Tuesday, January 16th at 7:00pm at Eastlake Theater . Tickets will be sold at the door,  $5 for adults and $3 for students. Conferences are on November 20 th and 21 st .  School is out those days at 10:30am . Teachers will schedule the conferences and send home a notice with your conference time on Monday, November 13th. Conferences are an opportunity for students to share goals, work, and learning with parents.  It is also a time for parents to learn more about their child's school day. Mrs. Amaya wrote in this week's Raven Review: Our first guild "competition" started last week, but I have noticed that it is slow going. It is the time of year when RSAR students gather food to donate to Northwest Harvest. Food insecurity is a serious issue in King County. According to a Seattle PI report, about 12% of King County residents have reported having run out of money to purchase food in the last year. That statistic is only 1% above the state levels. Do you like or are familiar with digital scrap booking? Our Yearbook Committee needs an adult to over see the students creating the 2017-18 yearbook!  Any parent can volunteer, having a pair of parents split the duties is great too. The Yearbook Advisor does not create the yearbook!  It is student organized. The Yearbook Advisor is there to watch over the students during their meetings to make sure that they are meeting deadlines. Congratulations to the new Thespian inductees who were inducted in October into the Jr. Thespian National Society! All Junior Thespians are theatre arts honor students, and induction as a Junior Thespian is the first of many honors that troupes may bestow on a student.   Mrs. Daman announced that the Weekly Thespians meeting will now be during lunch on Mondays.  The monthly board meeting will continue to meet the first Friday of the month after school.  The members will be attending the Thespians Festival in January, date TBD. Some of our volunteer opportunities require a person with a Food Handler's Permit.  If you are planning to help assist with serving food any this year's BBQ or any PTSA event, it is a great safety training to have. Can I get my food worker card online? Yes, all local health departments offer the food worker training, test, and card online.
